Beni helps you meet people — scammers try to steal money and codes. Read this before you chat or meet. Full ops notes for the team: docs/ANTI-FRAUD-AND-CRIME-PREVENTION_2026-10-20.md (internal).
Do this
Keep chat in Telegram until you trust them.
Tell a friend where you are going.
Meet in a public place first.
Use Report and Block on any profile.
Prefer people with a verified badge — still stay careful.
Check official links only via @Beni_shabot.
Never
Send money, airtime, gift cards, crypto, or “fees” to a match.
Share OTPs, PINs, seed phrases, bank or Telebirr details.
Send a selfie with a handwritten code someone “needs to verify you”.
Move to a private app because they “can’t talk here”.
Believe random DMs that claim to be Beni support asking for passwords or Stars PINs.
Common scams
Romance / urgent help: “Send airtime now or I lose my job.”
Fake fees: “Pay to unlock chat / Premium / verify.” Real Premium is only Telegram Stars inside Beni.
Account takeover: “Forward this code” or “share your login.”
Catfish: stolen photos — report if it feels wrong.
If something feels wrong
Block, then Report (use “Underage concern” if you think they are under 18 — we soft-hide for review). For payment problems after a real Stars purchase, send /paysupport in the bot. For other help, use the contact on the Privacy page.
Beni does not control private Telegram chats between matches and cannot guarantee every profile is honest until verification is approved. Your judgment still matters.
